The tournament joins the US and Australian Opens in implementing video review technology.
Replay technology are set to arrive at The Championships in the upcoming tournament.
Players will gain the option to question particular decisions made by the official, following the system currently in place at both the US Open and the Australian Open.
The new system will be accessible on the main stadium and the number one court throughout the Championships and on the remaining show courts when they are hosting singles contests.
This step arrives only a year after the All England Club rolled out electronic line calling, which brought an end to the 147-year role of line judges.
Reviewable Decisions
Competitors cannot to challenge the accuracy of the ELC system, but they can ask for the official to re-examine other situations, such as:
- Whether a tennis ball has bounced twice.
- If a ball made contact with an rival's racket or body during play.
- Possible interference at the conclusion of a rally.
Notably, there is no cap on the amount of reviews a player can ask for.
A Recent Example
An illustrative example occurred in Indian Wells recently, where Daniil Medvedev initiated the video challenge against his opponent.
The British player admitted it was a tough call for the umpire, but thought his opponent had "used the regulations effectively."
The umpire viewed a replay and ruled Draper was responsible for hindrance, granting the point to his opponent.
Wider Implementation
This technology are not exclusive to Grand Slams. The system was adopted at the American major for two years and the Australian Open this year.
Furthermore, it is increasingly prevalent on the WTA circuit, and by next season the ATP circuit will have video reviews implemented at all of its events.
Additional Innovations
A further change at Wimbledon 2025 will be the addition of visual indicators on scoreboards to complement the audio calls from the ELC system.
This solves situations where the crowd have occasionally been uncertain if a shot was out or in.
In other news, with precisely a century of days remaining until the beginning of the tournament, organizers have also revealed an expansion in daily capacity at the qualifying competition in the qualifying venue.
