Automobiles in German City Discovered Covered with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Authorities reported they were notified by a man who found a car in Hanau smeared with red-colored liquid

Roughly fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.

Police state they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.

The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.

Officers then located numerous other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials state initial examinations indicate the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; investigators are not yet informed of any harm in connection with the event," they commented.

Local authorities stated they were trying "to solve the incident" and have requested to the residents for details.

A high-ranking representative stated the incident left him stunned and had to be addressed quickly.

"This incident hits the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right attack five years ago," he posted on social media, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a shooter focusing on residents of migrant background in five years prior.
